| TrackNet Media responds to Youbet
"Since its inception, TrackNet Media has sought broad distribution of its horse racing signals through a wide variety of wagering outlets and platforms, including ADW companies not affiliated with Churchill Downs Incorporated or Magna Entertainment Corp., the joint owners of TrackNet Media," said Daruty. "We believe ADW companies should differentiate themselves based on innovation, customer service, customer satisfaction and the quality of their wagering platform - not based on exclusive content agreements. Unfortunately, for almost a decade our industry, and the growth of ADW, has been encumbered by exclusive content arrangements held by Television Games Network ("TVG"). "In order to achieve our goal of broad distribution, TrackNet Media is seeking an agreement with TVG that would provide for a content exchange between TrackNet Media and TVG.

A warm, safe place for kids with nowhere else to go
EDITORS NOTE: The youths profiled in this story allowed a reporter and photographer to observe their lives at a shelter and on the streets of Berkeley during several weeks. Details of their stories were verified through court records and others accounts. The Oakland Tribune agreed not to publish their last names. By Sara Steffens Jose Cuervo unzips his tattered backpack and pulls out a crushed box of Toasted Honey Crunch. Months of staying in a shelter for homeless youths have taught him to provide for himself, carry what he might need. So alongside his toothbrush, razor and cigarettes, he totes his preferred brand of sugary cereal. Shaking some in a bowl, he offers the box to his fellow diners at Berkeleys Youth Emergency Assistance Hostel, most of whom are engrossed in a videotaped Goofy cartoon.
The Origins of Scotty Doesn’t Know
When this all began seven months ago, I was told my last column should explain why I chose the “Scotty Doesn't Know" title. First off, I didn't even choose it. Former assistant sports editor Paul Testa said I could only have the column if I agreed to that name. For that reason, and the fact that I had no clue what else to call it — efforts to create a clever pun using a Chicago sports reference were disastrous — it became so. Nevertheless, I think it fits well. I've put up with hundreds of references to that song since EuroTrip came out a few years ago. And, no, I don't know any Fiona's, but I've got the perfect opening line for when I do. However, it's also true that I really am clueless — about life, girls, my future job and, especially, about sports. In fact, I wasn't even supposed to have a column because I couldn't come up with just two ideas for sample pieces.

That 'Video Kid' isn't 12, she's 72
JACKSON, Miss. (AP) _ Flora Dierbach lived video game-free until her retirement community introduced her to the interactive console Nintendo Wii. Dierbach, a 72-year-old who lives a retirement community in Lincolnshire, Ill., has become an avid video game bowler since the community got the Wii in December. Wii system players use a remote to control game action. When playing sports games, this means moving the controller as if you are rolling a ball down the lane or swinging a baseball bat. .
