| Marin fans hooked on Sharks
SAN JOSE - The Sharks were skating onto the ice for their pregame warmups before Game 4 of their Stanley Cup opening-round playoff series against Nashville as AC/DC's "Highway to Hell" blared from the sound system. Meanwhile, Bryan Hodes of Novato and his 16-year-old son, Jackson, were on a highway to nowhere. They were stuck in traffic trying to find a parking spot near the arena because the main lots were already full. They traveled two hours on a school night to jump on the Sharks bandwagon and watch a playoff game in a sport Hodes didn't much care about 10 years ago. Now he lives for this and he's willing to pay $79 for a seat, $13 or more for parking and make a 4-hour round trip with the price of gas the way it is. He does all this knowing he might wait in line to see a hockey game some Northern Californians wouldn't pay two cents to watch.
GLOBAL: Darko Milicic, 2.0
On February 14th a year ago, Darko Milicic fell in love. It was his third Valentine's day in the United States, and even in his native Serbia, third time's a charm. There were no flowers nor candy, just Nenad Krstic and a few other friends, talking about that evening's Pistons' victory over the visiting Nets. Although Milicic had little to do with the 85:71 final score, trade deadline was around the corner and Darko was in love with the idea of playing somewhere else. A week later, Peja Stojakovic was in town with the visiting Indiana Pacers, and was sitting in the same living room, when the news came that Darko was traded to Orlando. "He was jumping up and down like a kid", recalled Stojakovic. A year later, and Darko is still in love with his new team. Wrapped around his first anniversary with the Magic, Darko had his best basketball month ever, averaging about 12 points in 30 minutes per game through February.
Four Sega Genesis Game Titles coming to the Wii Shop Channel
Yesterday, Sega announced that four game titles from its Sega Genesis library namely Streets of Rage 2, Toe Jam & Earl in Panic on Funkotron, Shining in the Darkness and Kid Chameleon will soon be available for download via the Nintendo Wii Shop Channel. Each of these Sega Genesis titles will be priced at 800 Wii Points onwards. Streets of Rage 2: To celebrate their defeat of the syndicate exactly one year before, Blaze, Adam and Axel met for drinks. The next morning, Axel received a frantic phone call from Eddie 'Skate' Hunter, Adam's younger brother, whom he was living with on the edge of the city. Blaze and Axel found Adam and Skate's house wrecked and a picture of Adam chained to a wall at the feet of Mr. X. The city then once again returned to its nightmarish state and criminals ran rampant.
Lightning loosens its grip in power struggle
TAMPA - In the end, they were not desperate enough. They were not sharp enough. They were not disciplined enough. Most of all, the players of the Tampa Bay Lightning were not quite vicious enough. Presented with an opportunity to step upon the necks of the New Jersey Devils on Wednesday night, the Lightning somehow missed. One minute, there was a skate poised somewhere over Martin Brodeur's Adam's apple, and the next, there was an un-nicked neck. As quickly as that, everything has changed in the series, and the Lightning can only wonder how it all slipped away, the opportunity and the home ice and that gurgling sound that had been coming from behind Brodeur's mask. The Devils won 4-3 in overtime, and now the series is tied at two games apiece. A victory by the Lightning here, and it was all but over.

Career window opening for Shia LaBeouf
Making the move from kid stardom to adult fame can be a difficult transition. So far, Shia LaBeouf shows no problems navigating the tricky waters. The 20-year-old has gone from being the star of the Disney sitcom Even Stevens to major roles in such films as Bobby, The Greatest Game Ever Played and the Rear Window-inspired thriller Disturbia, which opens today. He has two more films coming out later this year, and Internet gossip links him to the title role in the upcoming Indiana Jones sequel. LaBeouf, more acerbic than his screen persona, talked up Disturbia during a recent conversation. .
