| Lakers-Suns: Kobe Bryant, a Loser's Loser
Theyve got an ethos in the City of Angels: Fake it til you make it. If youre Nobody, act like youre Somebody. If youre Somebody, act like it matters. Human longings a tough nut to crack, Bubba, and Lord knows Id never begrudge anyone his existential right to shoot for the moon. But still its like if I could only just tell him, you know?; if I could only just give the guy a hug, or a heartbeat, and tell him that he can save all the posturing and the preening and the so-very-pointless point-heavy pathos because man, Kobe, everythings going to be all right, even if its not, and even if it cant be, and even ifeven if Even if Im only just saying, is all... .
SAVVY KIDS: Products help parents teach finances
In my household most requests for toys, video games or trips to a fast-food restaurant are met with two words: College Fund. You may not realize it, but your children do watch, listen and internalize what you say and do about money. For example, my 8-year-old son was ordering from the kid's menu and couldn't decide between a hamburger and a cheeseburger when we were having brunch one day after church. When I asked him why he was taking so long to decide, he said, "Mommy, the cheeseburger costs 20 cents more than the hamburger and we need that money for my college fund." I put my right hand across my heart. I was so proud. I let him have the cheeseburger. "I think this time we can splurge and your college fund will be OK, honey," I said. Variety of piggy banks Now, if you don't know how to start teaching your children about money, let me help, since April has been designated Financial Literacy Month.

Athletic trainers wear many hats
Fall football season may have more injuries, but spring is the most hectic time of the year for Heritage athletic trainer Tony Tucker. "In the spring it gets crazy because we have 12 teams participating," Tucker said. "There's times when I don't know which way to go. When it gets busy, it gets busy." Amherst athletic trainer Robert Curd can relate. "On any given night, you could have a softball, baseball and soccer game going on and you have to try to be at three places at one time," he said. "There may be 100 events and you may make it to 99, but the one you miss, if something happens, it looks bad," Tucker added. Such is the life of the athletic trainer. March is designated as National Athletic Trainers Month to recognize the work they do behind the scenes, enabling athletes to perform at their highest levels on the field.

Monday Morning Poll: How the Hell Did Shia LaBeouf Beat Willis ...
After taking a look at this weekend's box office numbers, I'm now convinced the rumor is indeed true -- Steven Spielberg can see into the future. Perhaps that's why he's been so hot on Shia LaBeouf, when the rest of us were all like, "Um, you mean that kid from The Battle of Shaker Heights? Really? You dig him?" Granted, if Disturbia opened up in the middle of January during what I like to call "Hollywood's version of spring training," then it's $23 million first place finish wouldn't have been such a big deal. However, Shia LaBeouf (whose last three films were Bobby, A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints and The Greatest Game Ever Played) won this weekend's top spot by defeating some serious competition. Shall we run down the list of top-notch actors LaBeouf out-box officed? Let's see, there's Will Ferrell, John Heder, Bruce Willis, Halle Berry, Hilary Swank and Ice Cube -- not to mention filmmakers like Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez.
Nunez happy to be Rapids' bugaboo
FRISCO, Texas -- If FC Dallas is playing the Colorado Rapids, then it must mean Ramon Nunez will be the centerpiece of the FCD attack. And so it was again Sunday afternoon at Pizza Hut Park as Nunez scored twice in leading his team to a 3-1 victory against the Rapids. Nunez, who was voted Man of the Match and led the Hoops with five shots on the afternoon, scored in the 29th and 78th minutes, giving the Dallas native five goals in his last three regular season games against the Rapids. It was a great way for Nunez to cap off an interesting week. Following last Sunday's 3-0 loss to the New York Red Bulls, he flew to Houston from New York. Then, on Monday morning, he flew to his native Honduras to begin the process of receiving his green card. Nunez returned to Frisco on Friday and trained with the team on Saturday morning.
